Have you ever been to a place that leaves you completely spellbound? That makes you feel at home, even if it is far away from home. That’s how the beautiful Hyatt Regency Dharamshala made me feel.
An incredible property located in the lap of nature, amidst dense hilly forests and surrounded by fresh mountain air this resort makes for the perfect spot to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Once we reached McLeod Ganj, a car took up a picturesque road to this spectacular resort. From the moment we entered, we fell completely in love with this magnificent resort.
Nestled in the snow-capped Dhauladhar in the northern Himalayas, a staycation here will help you relax and rejuvenate in the lap of nature. This incredible property boasts of 4 private villas, 3 suites, 17 Club rooms, 15 rooms with balconies, and 41 Hyatt king and twin-bed rooms offering fresh Himalayan air and unmatched views through massive windows.

Once we entered our temperature was checked, our feet, hands & bags sanitised and we had to fill a Covid negative declaration form. They follow the highest quality of safety standards and each room is sanitised after check out. Only 48 hours after a person checks out is the room available for use again, clean and safe. They also run at a lesser capacity and follow high safety measures in the restaurant and activity areas to ensure social distancing. We were really impressed by the top level of safety and sanitisation measures.
After the safety procedures, we were welcomed with some Himachali tea, a traditional scarf and a Kullu Topi (cap) which were all so special. We loved the warmth and the impeccable hospitality which is the most important part of any hotel experience.
After a lovely welcome, we were then escorted to our room by the ever-friendly staff, all of whom are regularly tested for Covid 19 and always wear masks. Masks are compulsory for all guests and there are sanitisers available throughout the property to ensure a safe stay.
We stayed at one of their standard rooms that were beautifully designed with touches of the local Tibetan culture coupled with all modern amenities. Our twin-bedded room came with a colossal balcony overlooking the snow-capped Himalayas. We loved the special touch with the cute handmade towel art and chocolates they’d kept for us in the room.

After freshening up, we went down for some delicious cocktails to 2082, their stunning bar with indoor seating and also a gorgeous alfresco section in the midst of stunning cedar trees.
The cocktails were all inspired by local flowers, herbs & trees and all of these elements found themselves incorporated into each hand-crafted concoction. Sneha, the mixologist left us in awe of her incredible preparations like the Valley of Flowers, Mountain Dawn and Himalayan Orchard. The handmade floral scents, distillates and aromatic blends made for some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had.

After cocktail hour, we indulged in a scrumptious meal at Thym, their multicuisine restaurant where we tried some local Himachali and Tibetan food. The Himachali thali was a complete culinary delight and had some really unique preparations like Kheru, Himachali Kadhi, Lal Chawal, Bhaturu and more. Chef Sandeep Biswas really worked his magic with the food and we absolutely loved the whole experience.

After a good night’s rest, we devoured a delicious breakfast at THYM. The buffet spread is completely contactless and a gloved and masked server will serve you your choice of preparations from the vibrant spread. From Indian local favourites like Chole Bhature, Dal Vada, Parathas, etc to international favourites like multiple egg preparations, freshly baked bread, pastries, bagels and more, the breakfast here will leave you heart-warmingly full for a long time.
You can also choose to stay in and order breakfast in your room. There is nothing like a warm, freshly made breakfast in bed surrounded by such mesmerizing views.

After breakfast, we went for a walk around the property, falling in love with the tall cedar trees, the herb garden, the luxurious villas, the cosy library, the meditation centre, the indoor heated pool, the incredible sunset views and so much more. While you’re at the property, embark on a nature walk, unwind at Camp Hyatt or take a trip to the beautiful town of Dharamshala where the amazing culture and warm people will leave you awestruck.

The fresh mountain air, the stunning views of the Dhauladhar ranges and the feeling of oneness with nature really enriched our experience at Hyatt Regency Dharamshala.
After a walk, we checked out of our room to a warm goodbye. I can’t wait to go back again soon.
