Ultra comfortable seats, delicious food, a smooth check-in process and impeccable service made my experience on board the Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Mumbai-Colombo as a Business Class passenger nothing short of extraordinary!
Affordable luxury at its best, Sri Lankan Airlines (A part of One World Alliance) brings a together a cutting-edge flying experience with all modern amenities + warm Asian hospitality!
I flew to Colombo with Sri Lankan Airlines to attend the super exciting TBC Asia Travel Bloggers Conference, 2018 hosted by Cinnamon Hotels, PTBA & Destination Sri Lanka where 60 of the world’s most influential travel bloggers came together to explore this beautiful country.
My short 2-hour flight from Mumbai-Colombo was made extra special by the pleasant Sri Lankan Airlines hospitality! The ultra-modern aircraft was an Airbus A330 that is well equipped with spacious seats, wide leg space & top of the line entertainment facilities. With 12 business class seats and around 138 economy class seats, sit back and relax as you fly through the clouds in style.
CHECK IN PROCESS & BAGGAGE :
Sri Lankan airlines takes off from the T2 Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai with a separate line for business class passengers. The smoothest Check in process I’ve ever had, I had my boarding pass & cleared security + immigration within 30 minutes!
With the assistance of the friendly Sri Lankan airlines ground staff dressed in gorgeous blue sarees, my check-in process was done in a jiffy where it usually takes a very long time in a busy airport like Mumbai.
Business class passengers can carry two pieces of carry-on luggage weighing a maximum of seven kilograms each & checked baggage up to 40 kilograms.
EXPERIENCE ON BOARD:
Business class passengers are given priority check-in and boarding. I was greeted by the attentive onboard staff and escorted to my seat. The business class seat itself had the capacity to recline into a cosy bed which one can relax in during the course of the flight. Soft pillows and a blanket were also provided for.
I was greeted with a refreshing hot towel followed by a glass of cool apple juice. The interiors of the cabin lit up with mood lighting & the seats adorned with the blue Sri Lankan peacock design, I knew I was heading to a land of many tropical delights!
The seat came with its own dining stand, a private touch screen entertainment system that could be tucked away if you want to sleep, charging USB ports, headphones & extra leg space for an utterly luxurious experience. You always have a huge variety of movies and shows to choose from!
Once all passengers boarded, we were efficiently informed of the security and emergency procedures by the ever-courteous staff, our seatbelts tucked in, seats upright and off we went into the skies!
I was spoilt for choice with the sheer variety of delicious dining and beverage options on board the Sri Lankan Airlines Flight from Mumbai-Colombo.
The extensive drinks menu has a large variety of international spirits and liqueurs apart from traditional Ceylon tea. Whether you prefer French wines or top quality Scotch or just some orange juice, you have a lot to choose from in their in-flight dining menu.
Since it was 3 am in the morning the food was light and just perfect for those early morning hunger pangs! I was served with a platter of melt in your mouth kebabs + patties and some freshly cut fruits. The food was well spiced and came with a delectable fresh mint chutney. Pair it up with some good tea and you’re all set for your Sri Lankan adventure!
I managed to grab one hour of much-needed sleep on the luxurious business class reclining seats before it was time to land in beautiful Colombo!
Before we landed, we were handed out immigration forms to smoothen our Check out process from the airport.
On landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, I managed to clear immigration and collect my bags within half an hour. You can do a Pre-arrival ETA from India or get a visa on arrival which costs about $25.
On landing, business class passengers also have access to the Serendib Lounge by Sri Lankan Airlines where you can get some rest/a great meal.
My next few days were spent exploring this diverse and breathtaking county with Cinnamon Hotels & Destination Sri Lanka. We covered various properties, saw many natural wonders, ate a lot of good food and had excellent learning opportunities at the TBC Asia conference! I also won an award by Sri Lankan airlines in the photography category for Food, Culture & Tradition! Read more on my complete experience on a separate blog soon.
Overall, my experience on board Sri Lankan airlines flight from Mumbai-Colombo was extremely pleasant and comfortable. Blending modernity with tradition, the flight experience was extremely satisfying. I highly recommend flying Sri Lankan Airlines the next time you travel.
