“To wander is to be alive” said Roman Payne quite correctly.
Situated amongst the crystal clear blue waters of Mulshi Lake on the outskirts of Pune, 45 minutes from Chandni Chowk and a 4 hour drive from Mumbai, Basho’s resort is a beautiful property located away from the hustle and bustle of our crazy city lives. If you’re looking for a ‘digital detox’ this is the place to visit!
The archaic wooden stairs, lush greenery all around, the smell of exotic flowers drafting through the windows, the quaint cottages which are spacious and stunning, the luxury tents on a slight elavation above the lake, the delicious food from their lake side restaurant, the impeccable service and the warm ambience made our weekend visit just perfect.
Sip a cup of warm coffee sitting on the porch of your lake view cottage or take a dip in the cute little swimming pool or just enjoy the serenity of the beautiful lake that almost touches the resort by sitting on one of the lounge chairs at the poolside while listening to some soothing music.
Climbing upto our lovely cottage from the pool, I was enchanted by the natural beauty of the place, the chirping of birds, the pleasant wind blowing by, the well maintained plants, the smell of fresh air and the feeling of just not doing anything for a change. Basho’s is a place that helps you connect with your inner self and become one with nature.
With 4 luxurious air-conditioned tents, 4 beautiful cottages, a yoga centre, conference room, a pool and a multi cuisine restaurant that overlooks the eye catching lake, Basho’s is a place that caters to everyone’s needs from an individual to a family to couples to corporates.
Our cottage had a lovely rustic charm to it and the best part about it being able to wake up to the sight of the enchanting lake. With a king sized bed, a sitting area inside the cottage where you can relax and enjoy the view, a well made bathroom with a large bathtub, a wonderful porch where you can sit and take in the beauty of nature and hear the little birds chirp around you while having some delicious food from their restaurant, this is my idea of an ideal weekend gateway.
Coming to the food served at their multi cuisine restaurant where quite a lot of travelers stop by for a quick lunch we were spoilt for choice from their vast menu. Indian, Chinese, Italian or Mughalai, name it and they have it!
There are three levels of seatings in the restaurant, the lowest level almost touching the lake with quaint little tables.
We had a delicious Indian meal with some melt in your mouth Paneer Tikka Masala, buttery kaali daal, freshly made mixed pakodas and naans fresh out of the tandoor.
With our tummies full to our hearts content, we went back to the comfort of our cottage, connecting with the beauty of the nature around. They also serve Hookah both in the restaurant and on the porch outside your cottage. Our night was just about perfect surrounded by the calm waters of the lake, the stars shining bright in the sky, the cool weather and some well made Sheesha.
Waking upto the sights and sounds of Mother Nature, we had a delicious breakfast of traditional Maharashtrian style poha and some warm aadrak wali chai sitting by the lake on our lovely porch.
Before leaving for Bombay, we had a heartwarmingly scrumptious lunch at the restaurant. Creamy Veg Makhanwala paired with some lovely tadkewali daal, butter kulchas and steamed rice tasted so so good! It left us drooling. The veggies in the Makhanwala were well cooked, the gravy had the perfect balance of rich cashews and tomatoes, the daal that would leave you craving for more and the fresh kulchas all together made for a beautiful meal.
We left with full tummies and some beautiful memories of a perfect weekend at Basho’s.
