There are some places which always hold a special place in your heart and Shamiana at The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Colaba, Mumbai is one of them.
Majestic in its elegant ambience with its beige and golden upholstery, a charming multi-cuisine menu which has everything from Idli Sambhar to Baked Camembert cheese, Pav Bhaji to Pizzas and impeccable service, this beautiful 24 hour coffee shop is a must visit.
A socialising hub since the 1970’s, Shamiana is a place where friends would gather for a quick dinner, business deals were struck, dates were charmed and families made memories together. After it shifted from its original place to near the poolside of The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai it still had that charm to it. It’s back at its old location in the lobby now, with an all new renovated avtar!
We started off with the Double Baked Camembert Cheese Soufflé. Camembert cheese, a delicious cheese originally from Hungary, baked with celery and scallops to a perfect soufflé consistency, this savoury soufflé had my tastebuds magically enchanted. One bite into this and you’re in cheese heaven! Highly recommended.
We then tried the Glazed Nachos. Crisp Nacho chips topped with spicy beans, jalapeños,avocados, bell peppers and oodles of cheese that’s finished off with some paprika, salsa and sour cream tasted quite delightful. The dollop of sour cream, fresh salsa and all the other ingredients blended together perfectly into a nice medley of flavours.
On multiple recommendations, we also tried their Mac n cheese and boy it was so so good! Well cooked Macroni enveloped in a rich cheese sauce all baked together with some herbs made for a heartwarming dish. Mac n cheese is an all time favourite!
We had the Mac n cheese with their Flowerpot four dough bread. Freshly baked bread with its strong flavours coupled with some balsamic vinegar and mascarpone cheese makes for a lovely accompaniment to any meal.
In Indian we tried their Paneer Kathi Roll. Melt in your mouth cottage cheese pieces, marinated in a beautiful curd and tandoori masala mixture topped with onions served in a soft Roomali roti with fresh green chutney tasted like heaven on earth.
The best dish of the day was the Margherita cheese pizza, A beautiful thin crust pizza base topped with gooey mozzarella cheese and fresh basil all baked together wonderfully Definately tantalise your tastebuds.
I had a wonderful experience at Shamiana! Thecrazyindianfoodie highly recommends.
